Retrofit Scope

Migrate a Fagor-based laser cutting control to a Bochu platform with coordinated motion, height control and process I/O.

Fagor-to-CypCut retrofit: CNC, height control and process I/O integration.

Fagor control diagnosis

The survey separates the Fagor CNC motion functions from servo, height-control and laser-process interfaces. This exposes which signals are native CNC behavior and which must be recreated as verified CypCut I/O during the migration.

  • Record Fagor axis commands, feedback, homing sequence and drive alarm paths.
  • Trace torch-height, capacitive sensing, gas and laser command interfaces.
  • Inspect CNC safety handling, door signals and any operator-panel dependencies.

Control and process architecture

The CypCut platform is configured around the measured axis count, process sequence and height-control requirements. The cabinet design preserves only proven devices and provides a clear terminal map for every Fagor function replaced.

  • Map Fagor CNC functions to CypCut motion, process and auxiliary I/O.
  • Verify servo control mode, feedback resolution and motor brake requirements.
  • Integrate height control and laser sequence with safety-permitted process signals.

Commissioning and production acceptance

Commissioning tests motion, height following and process timing in stages so that the cut program is not used to mask an interface fault. Acceptance uses agreed parts to confirm consistent pierce, contour quality and recovery from normal alarms.

  • Validate homing, direction, travel limits and interpolation before laser enable.
  • Tune height-following and gas/laser timing on safe sample material.
  • Cut production samples and record quality, dimensions, alarms and operator sign-off.

Typical Customer Challenges

01

Fagor CNC, drive and height-control interfaces must be coordinated before migration.

02

Rising maintenance cost and unpredictable downtime

03

Need for higher power, easier operation or current process functions

Retrofit Engineering

Compatibility comes before configuration

Every project requires a machine-specific assessment. Final hardware, software and achievable performance depend on the existing mechanical accuracy, drive system, I/O, electrical cabinet, safety circuit and selected laser power.

Assessment Checklist

  • Fagor CNC and drive interface assessment
  • Bochu, servo, height control and process I/O integration
  • Laser source, cutting head and chiller
  • Electrical drawings and safety circuit
  • Target materials, thickness and laser power

Project Deliverables

  • Machine compatibility report
  • Retrofit architecture and bill of materials
  • Electrical and I/O integration plan
  • Parameter tuning, safety checks and acceptance cutting
  • Operator training and handover records
  • Remote support after commissioning

Selecting the right Bochu control platform

CypCut is a leading Chinese sheet-metal laser cutting software platform. Depending on power, motion architecture and process requirements, a project may use CypCut, CypCutPro or an EtherCAT-based FSCUT8000/HypCut solution.
